Introduction

The department is established in the year 2000 with an intake of 40 students. The department is equipped with all necessary infrastructure and laboratory facilities. Present intake of department is 40 with total of more than 120 students studying in I, II, III and IV year. Keeping in view of the vision and mission, the department is untiringly stepping towards progress and achieving excellence in various aspects such as student’s performance and quality, student teacher relationships, student’s motivation towards research oriented aspects and imbibing good human qualities and moral in them.  Department has well qualified, dedicated, expert faculty and supporting staff.   

Program of the department has granted academic autonomy by VTU and UGC in 2007. Department has recognized as Research Centre by VTU, Belagavi in the year 2013. At present 11 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D., Research centre put forward its activities and grabbed the AICTE research promotion schemes which is benefited with rupees 3,00,000 to carry out the  research projects.   

Department has signed MoU with Minds Solvit Pvt. Ltd., IT Park, Gulbarga, Global Edge Technologies, Bangalore etc., which has become a bench mark for the students to get expose to the  corporate sector. All the students undergo around 100 hrs of training encompassing soft skills, spoken/written English and other personality development activities.

Many alumni of this department are performing as entrepreneurs in India and many other are well placed in private and public sectors.

Program Educational Objectives

  1. To apply knowledge of computing, mathematical foundations, modeling and designing system based real world applications.
  2. An ability to use current technical skills and tools necessary for computing practice.
  3. To analyze problem and formulate appropriate computing requirements for obtaining solutions.
  4. To function effectively on multi-disciplinary teams (Team work) to plan, implement and execute the tasks.
  5. To possess leadership & management skills with best professional ethical practices and social concern.
  6. An understanding of processes that support the delivery and management of information systems within a specific application environment.
  7. To recognize the importance of professional development by pursuing postgraduate studies or face competitive examinations that offer challenging and rewarding careers in computing.

Academic Eligibility

The students should have passed 2nd PUC / 12th Standard or equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and obtained 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology in case of candidates belonging to Karnataka Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other Backward Classes (Category 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.

Prof. Dr. Bharati Harsoor has completed BE and M.Tech from PDA College of Engg. Gulbarga and completed Ph.D. from Osmania University, Hyderabad.  Her area of research is Computer Networks. She has published more than 25 research papers in International and National Journals. She has attended many national and international conferences. She has organized workshop on Cloud Computing.

  • Lab1 has a total area of 251 sq.m with 15 HP Systems and Five Lenovo Think Center Systems with wired network.
  • Lab2 has a total area of 335 sq.m with 24 HP Systems with wired network.
  • Lab3 has a total area of 42 sq.m with 15 IBM systems along with facilities to conduct hardware lab.
  • Well equipped seminar hall with digital environment and interactive board.

  • Our faculties have presented & published almost 50+ papers in various National/International Conferences in India and abroad and almost 30+ publications in International Journals.
  • Most of our faculty members reviewed a research papers for National and International Conferences.
  • One of our faculty Prof. Uday S. Balagar has been awarded as the Best performer for the academic year 2013-14

 

Students Achievements

  • Five of student’s project got selected for KSCST for academic year 2013-14.
  • Three of our students cleared their KAS prelims and stepping for their finals.
  • One of our student participated in zonal round of “RoboTryst – 2014 organized by Robosapiens Technologies Pvt. Ltd., in association with Tryst-2014 at IIT Delhi.
  • ITBT Government of Karnataka sanctioned rupees three lakhs for the student’s project entitled “Smart Water Way “.
  • Students have presented many papers in National/International Conferences
  • Our students have won awards in various competitions & Poster presentations at various inter college level.

Students of the Department have achieved ranks at the University level(VTU) and gold medal at college level.

  • Miss. Ambika Avanti bagged IX rank at VTU Level
  • Miss. Nida Sumayya bagged nine gold medals in second convocation of the college.
  • Miss Trupti of lateral entry bagged gold medal in third convocation of the college.

Department Library :
