Introduction

The department was established in the year 2000 with an intake of 40 students. The department is equipped with all necessary infrastructure and laboratory facilities. Present intake of department is 60 with total of 180 students studying in I, II, III and IV year. Keeping in view of the Vision and Mission, the department is untiringly stepping towards progress and achieving excellence in various aspects such as student’s performance and quality, student teacher relationship and student’s motivation towards research oriented aspects. Department behold for discipline among student community by imbibing good human qualities and moral. Department has well qualified, dedicated, expert faculty and supporting staff.  

Department has recognized as Research Centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University Belagavi in the year 2013 and at present 15 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D., Research centre put forward its activities and grabbed the AICTE research promotion schemes to carry out various projects.  

The center pillar of the department is its curricula and the faculty. The faculty and staff of the department made remarkable standings by involving themselves in academic activities like conducting various Workshops, Seminars and Industry Institute Interaction programs. The workshops and seminars are sponsored by TEQIP- II, ISTE and IE. Department made an historical remark by joining its hands with other Electrical Engineering Branches in organizing “International Conference on Current Research and Applications in Electrical Science – 2016”. Some of the faculty of the department worked as resource persons for workshops and delivered their technical sessions in various Engineering & Diploma colleges and in professional society like Institute of Engineers.

The department curricula meet the industry requirements. Department holds some of the cutting edge technology labs namely R-programming lab, Data Mining with SPSS Modeler, Python programming with UNIX, Web Designing with HTML5.         

Department frequently organizes many  student centric activities like Soft Skill Development programs, Quizzes, Plickers, Group Discussions, etc under the Students Association “Pheonix” .

The asset of the department is its Alumni. Department Alumni contribute their ideas and suggestions in framing curricula with respect to industry advancements. Alumni were well placed in private and public sectors and some of them emerged as entrepreneurs.

The corner stone of the Department is its Industry Institute Interaction Programs. Department has signed MoU with various industries like Global Edge Technologies, Bangalore, Minds solvit Pvt. Ltd., etc., which works like bench mark for the students and faculty to get expose to IT sector and current industry trends.  It also promotes for students placement.

The Training and Placement team of the department observes 3600 evaluation of the students, and encourages them for their involvement in soft skill development activities, quizzes, group discussions and flip classes.

Program Outcomes

    1. Engineering  knowledge:  Apply  the  knowledge  of  mathematics,  science,  engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
    2. Problem   analysis:    Identify,   formulate,   review   research   literature,   and    analyze    complex engineering  problems  reaching  substantiated  conclusions  using  first  principles  of  mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
    3. Design/development of solutions:  Design  solutions  for  complex  engineering  problems  and design   system   components   or   processes   that   meet   the   specified   needs   with   appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
    4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
    5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
    6. The  engineer  and  society:  Apply  reasoning  informed  by  the  contextual  knowledge  to  assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
    7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in   societal   and   environmental   contexts,   and   demonstrate   the   knowledge   of,   and   need   for sustainable development.
    8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

Program Specific Outcomes

1. Inherit the principles of Information Technology and demonstrate the skills in designing and developing the systems.

2. Demonstrate the knowledge of mathematical formulations to structure the data by building appropriate algorithms in software development process, also to analyze, communicate and distribute data in building enterprise applications. Academic Eligibility

The students should have passed 2nd PUC / 12th Standard or equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and obtained 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology in case of candidates belonging to Karnataka Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other Backward Classes (Category 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.

Prof. Dr. Bharati Harsoor 

Completed her graduation from Gulbarga University, Gulbarga and Post graduation from Visvesvaraya Technological University Belagavi and she completed her Ph.D. from Osmania University, Hyderabad, Telangana. Her area of research is Computer Networks and published more than 25 research papers in National & International Journals. She organized and chaired many Short Term Training Programs, Faculty Development Programs and Seminars. She worked as a reviewer for National and International Journals. She was a Program Convener to International Conference on Current Research and Applications in Electrical Science (ICCRAES-16).

  • Lab1 has a total area of 251 sq.m with 15 HP Systems and Five Lenovo Think Center Systems with wired network.
  • Lab2 has a total area of 335 sq.m with 24 HP Systems with wired network.
  • Lab3 has a total area of 42 sq.m with 15 IBM systems along with facilities to conduct hardware lab.

  • Our faculties have presented & published almost 50+ papers in various National/International Conferences in India and abroad and almost 30+ publications in International Journals.
  • Most of our faculty members reviewed a research papers for National and International Conferences.
  • One of our faculty Prof. Uday S. Balagar has been awarded as the Best performer for the academic year 2013-14.
  • Some of the faculty worked as Resourse persons in many of Short Term Training Programs / Workshops / Seminars

  • Five of student’s project got selected for KSCST for academic year 2013-14.
  • Three of our students cleared their KAS prelims and stepping for their finals.
  • One of our student participated in zonal round of “RoboTryst – 2014 organized by Robosapiens Technologies Pvt. Ltd., in association with Tryst-2014 at IIT Delhi.
  • ITBT Government of Karnataka sanctioned rupees three lakhs for the student’s project entitled “Smart Water Way “.
  • Students have presented many papers in National/International Conferences
  • Our students have won awards in various competitions & Poster presentations at various inter college level.

  • Miss. Ambika Avanti bagged IX rank at VTU Level
  • Miss. Nida Sumayya bagged nine gold medals in second convocation of the college.
  • Miss Trupti of lateral entry bagged gold medal in third convocation of the college.

  • One week faculty development program on “Dynamic Web Designing using PHP, MySQL and JAVA Servlets” was organized from 18th -22nd January, 2017.
  • One week workshop on “Data Analytics Using R” Sponsored by TEQIP – II,  ISTE and IETE was organized from 7th - 11th  March, 2017.
  • Three Days Industry Institute Interaction Program on “Software Testing and Quality Assurance” sponsored by TEQIP – II and IETE was jointly organized with CSE Dept. from 21st – 23rd March, 2017.
